One of the first assignments I got after switching
to the Kodak/Canon DCS520 was to photograph an
elderly man named Cliff Ervin, who is known around Everett for his hand carved wood items,
which he sells at various fairs and markets. At the time, our paper was switching
gradually to digital. I was the second photographer in four to get the equipment. This
photo was one of several that convinced
management to go full speed ahead with digital. The entire staff was outfitted with the
new cameras
shortly after. (I used the light from a small window, a tripod, and a macro lens to make
this photo.)
